For help during tough times.
College life can sometimes produce a great deal of stress. The reasons for this can range from a heavy workload and imminent deadlines, to difficulties of a personal nature. The Counselling Service provides an opportunity to discuss any difficulties you may be experiencing with a qualified person. The counsellor will help by listening without judgement, offering new perspectives and working with you on strategies that are right for you.
Advice and guidance.
Financial pressures can compromise the student experience while at college, negatively impacting on both academic performance and a student’s personal life. Student Support provides advice and guidance to students who are in financial difficulty on the various grants, bursaries, funding options and scholarships available in the third level sector. These include: the Area Based Partnership Scheme, social welfare payments, county council and VEC grants, the Student Assistance Fund and the Bank of Ireland Millennium Scholars Trust.
The HEA have also developed an excellent website which provides clear information on the various financial schemes that are available and the eligibility criteria for those schemes.
Please contact Michael Goldrick, Head of Learning Development and Disability, for confidential support if you are experiencing financial difficulty. Michael can be contacted on (01) 659 9245 or email [email protected]
