UCD itself has a range of financial supports to help students most in need. If you think you might qualify, get in touch with your faculty student adviser, or else the Students’ Union welfare officer ([email protected]) , who can provide you with more information.
1) Student Welfare Fund

This fund offers financial assistance to students who encounter unexpected difficulties during their time in UCD. Such unforeseen difficulties would be lost of part time job, bereavement or your parents have suffered a drop in their income. When applying to the Welfare Fund its very important to email either your student adviser, or SU Welfare Officer ([email protected]) to arrange to meet him first. The Welfare Fund Committee meet every two weeks throughout the academic year to consider applications. Students can therefore apply at any time. Applications are available at this link or in the Welfare Office in the Students’ Union, as well as every student adviser’s office.

2) Student Assistance Fund

This fund is means-tested and is intended to help those finding it difficult to make ends meet as a result of ongoing low income. It is important to gather all relevant information for this fund as early as possible. Applications are now open, and the guidelines are available to download: (Student Assistance Fund Guidelines 2013-14). The Fund is open to online application from the 14th October 2013 in your SIS Web account, the fund is scheduled to close at 5pm on 31st October 2013. No applications received after this time will be considered. ESF regulations require appropriate receipts for any monies allocated. Each application will only be considered for approval if the application includes appropriate receipts to the value of €750.

3) SVP Emergency Fund

The UCD Saint Vincent de Paul Society offer financial assistance up to €150, for those who experience sever unexpected severe difficulties. Applications can be made during an advisory clinic, which is held weekly during term-time. The clinics happen every Thursday in term time in Health Sciences B302.

The clinic runs 11.30am-1pm.
