Please Talk Vigil

October 25th, 2010

A Please Talk vigil will take place on campus on Tuesday 2nd November. We hope as many students as possible attend this vigil in aid of suicide awareness.

We will meet at 4pm at the Students’ Union to collect candles and posters, then make our way to the 2 gates for 4:45 and begin walking in to catch the attention of exiting traffic. At 5:45 we will all meet back in the Student Centre and hold a minute silence for all those who have died by suicide.

Hopefully you will be able to attend

However there are a number of secondary targets that includes community groups, fathers and workplaces. The Counselling Service is located in the CM corridor of the Main Building, around the corner from the Student Health Centre.

The Counselling Service is a professional psychological service available to students to assist them on their progress through University life, with all of its incumbent stresses and strains. Many personal decisions are made and problems solved though discussions with friends or family, a College Tutor or Director of Studies or a nurse, GP or chaplain. However, there are times when it may be right to seek help away from the familiar daily environment. The U.L. Couselling Service was set up in 1977 to meet just such a need.
